Mark Lacey
MILWAUKEE (May 3, 2007) — Dr. Mark Lacey, district sales manager of Liphatech’s northeast territory, died unexpectedly on April 30.
He was 58.
Lacey worked in the pest management industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Liphatech in 2003, he served as a technical consultant for the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and was a technical director for Paragon Professional Pest Control.
“Mark was virtually an icon in the industry and a tremendous asset to the company; he will be missed,” said Liphatech CEO Carl Tanner. “He was as an extremely knowledgeable professional – and scientist at heart who loved the pest control industry. Aside from his expertise, he was very well liked and well respected, not to mention the fact that he was an all-around wonderful person. We’re saddened by this loss and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”
Lacey held a doctorate and a master’s degree in entomology from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. He was a native of Wilmington, Del.
“Mark devoted his entire professional career to the pest control industry; he realized many accomplishments through his dedication, expertise and enthusiasm,” said Ray Finke, director of sales for Liphatech. “Perhaps his greatest accomplishment is the countless number of friendships Mark built; he was always a pleasure to work with and we were fortunate to have known him.”
An avid photographer, Lacey combined his photography skills with his goal of visiting all 50 states, which he accomplished last year with a trip to North and South Dakota. In addition to his expertise on rodents, Lacey was also well known as an expert on spiders. His presentation on spiders, complete with his own vivid photography, often left a memorable mark on those who experienced it.
Lacey is survived by his wife, Rebecca. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, at McCreary Funeral Home in Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Richardson Park United Methodist Church or the Delaware Humane Society, both in Wilmington.
